Wordy Girls Rule the World Podcast Read Alongs
Throughout the year, we choose books to read and review on our podcast, and we invite our listeners and followers to read along with us. Then we’ll discuss the plot, as well as what we think of the book. The idea is to share the reading experience with you, so we invite you to share your thoughts – we want to know what you thought of the book, what you liked, didn’t like, if you have any questions about what you’ve read, or if you have any questions for us. In short, we want to hear from you!
Here’s a quick run-down of the books we’ve read so far – and what we’re reading now.
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, by Douglas Adams
Ghosts of Tsavo, by Vered Ehsani
Eva Luna, by Isabel Allende
Blackbirds, by Chuck Wendig
The Ice Princess, by Camilla Läckberg
A Better Man: A Sunshine Creek Vineyard Novel by Candis Terry. Described as a “contemporary humor romance” book, we liked the sound of that and decided to give it a try. Discussed in Episode 14 of the WGR Podcast.
February / March 2016
In the Woods by Tana French, published 2007. “GripLit” or “ChickLit” – either way, an interesting read. We did have quite a lot to say about it though…
The first half of the book is discussed in Episode 8
The second half is discussed in Episode 10
December 2015 / January 2016
For our very first Read Along, we chose Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte! A Literary Classic, no matter how you slice it. Meaning, whether you thought Jane was an idiot or one of the most romantic figures of all time, this book deserves a read because, well, it stands the test of time.
The first third of the book is discussed in Episode 2
The middle section of the book is discussed in Episode 4
The last third is discussed in Episode 6
